What is Functional Medicine
Just recently I finished a very interesting course and became a Functional Medicine Practitioner.
You are probably wondering what is the difference between Nutritional Therapy v/s Functional Medicine. I tell you the truth, not much.
The main principles are the same:
Functional medicine, as well as Nutritional Therapy, addresses the underlying causes of disease and view the body as one integrated system and not a collection of independent organs. It treats the whole system, not just the symptoms.
Functional Medicine Practitioners as well as Nutritional Therapists, focus on prevention through nutrition, diet and exercise. By using of the latest laboratory testing and working closely with medical doctors, they can prescribe combinations of botanical medicines, supplements, therapeutic diets, detoxification programs, or stress-management techniques.
